CIEU was formed and registered on 9th October 1981 after the restructuring of the Singapore Industrial Labour Organisation (SILO) and the Pioneer Industries Employees' Union (PIEU).
We are an affiliate of the NTUC and we represent more than 14,700 members from companies in the chemical, gases, pharmaceutical, plastics and rubber sectors.
Our objectives are:
- To promote good industrial relations between our members and their employers
- To improve the working conditions of members and to enhance their economic and social status
- To help raise the of productivity for the benefit of members, their employers and the economy of Singapore.
