TigerLIVE (24 November 2007) Young CIEU organised a TigerLIVE event on 24 November 2007, held at St James Power Station. Participants went for a 4D tour to learn on the history of Tiger beer in Singapore. The event ended with a high note, made possible by our interactive game and fastest beer-drinker competition. Winners for our games also walked away with attractive prizes. Uth! Summit (18 April 2008) Organised by Young CIEU, the event was held on 18 April at Harry's@Chijmes. It was attended by approximately 50 company representatives, branch officials and Executive Committee. Executive Secretary of Young NTUC, Mr Steve Tan, was invited to present on the topic andquot;Purpose of the Youth (Labour) Movementandquot;. The participants also got an opportunity to share on their perspective with our CIEU President, G. Rajendran, CIEU Executive Secretary, Joanne Cham, and Young NTUC Executive Secretary, Steve Tan. Inter-branch Sepak Takraw Tournament (27 April 2008)8 teams participated in the Inter-branch Sepak Takraw Tournament held on 27 April 2008 at Taman Jurong Community Centre. The following players played well and were crowned the the winning teams for our tournament:

CIEU Golf Get-together 2008 (13 June 2008) CIEU conducted its annual Union-Management Golf Tournament on 13 June 2008 at Orchid Country Club. Guest of Honour was Mr Lim Boon Heng, Minister, Prime Minister's Office. In total, 52 golfers from 14 CIEU branches, including the OPEC unions, and NTUC participated in the tournament. BATU-CIEU-SMEEU Scholarship and Bursary Award Ceremony (14 June 2008) The annual scholarship and bursary award ceremony was held at the NTUC Centre's Auditorium on 14 June 2008. In total, 92 students from CIEU received awards at the scholarship event. Guest of Honour was Ms Cham Hui Fong, Nominated Member of Parliament and Executive Secretary of CIEU. Gift from the Heart (11 October 2008) Chemical Industries Employees' Union, Food, Drinks and Allied Workers' Union and the Singapore Industrial & Service Employees' Union jointly organised the event for our low wage workers. 2500 goodie bags consisting of daily necessities such as food and detergent were distributed to our members. CIEU Inter-branch 5-a-side Soccer Tournament 2008 (19 October 2008)20 teams gathered at Fico Sports Hub to play in our annually-held Inter-branch Soccer tournament on 19 October. In this year, there are 2 categories, (a) Under-35 category and (b) Open category. The winning team from each category then trashed it out for the much-coveted Challenge Trophy, which was subsequently won by Cookson Team A (Under-35 category).

CIEU Annual Dinner 2008 (31 October 2008) Close to 600 management partners and CIEU members attended our Annual Dinner held on 31 October 2008 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. Some highlights of the event included the collection of 1-cent and 5-cent coins, a photo montage featuring CIEU's efforts in helping our members, and of course, the Grand Draw where prizes included a pair of air tickets to Tokyo and cash shopping vouchers! In total, $118,290 was raised from the dinner (13% higher than last year's proceeds). All proceeds will be channeled to the Union's Education and Hardship Fund, which will be used to fund scholarships, bursaries and relief grants for our needy members and their families. PM Lee visit to GSK (26 January 2009) On the first day of Lunar New Year, PM Lee made a courtesy visit to GlaxoSmithKline (Pioneer branch). NTUC Secretary General Lim Swee Say, along with NTUC's Central Committee members, and CIEU Executive Committee's were also present to accompany PM Lee for the visit. Together with the entourage, the visitors were treated to an interactive plant tour before ending off with a mingling session with the GSK employees and management. Branch Officials' Appreciation Dinner (6 March 2009) To reward the branch officials for their hard work and effort in maintaining good industrial relations at their workplaces, an Appreciation Dinner was organised to thank them. Held at Safra (Mount Faber), approximately branch officials attended the BBQ dinner event. The event also saw 10 outstanding branch officials receiving plaques as CIEU recognises them for their good effort at the branch level. To top it off, lucky draw prizes were also distributed to the workers. KidzQuest to Underwater World (4 April 2009) + Appreciation BBQ (11 April 2009) In conjunction with Young NTUC's KidzQuest, 40 volunteers from Young CIEU and Young ESU accompanied the students from My First Skool on a learning journey to the Underwater World on 4 April. In appreciation of the volunteers’ efforts, an appreciation BBQ was held on Bukit Pasoh rooftop in the following week to thank them for their help. Scholarship and Bursary Ceremony (13 June 2009) Our annual Scholarship and Bursary ceremony was held at NTUC Auditorium on 13 June 2009. Guest of Honour was CIEU's Executive Secretary, Joanne Cham. There were 73 recipients for the scholarship award. This year, due to the economic downturn, the Union stepped up efforts and gave our more bursary awards to our members. In total, 166 members received the bursary awards. National Wages Council briefing for Branch Officials (17 June 2009) CIEU briefed conducted a National Wages Council briefing to inform our branch officials on the latest NWC guidelines on 17 June 2009. Approximately 60 branch officials attended the session. At the same time, the Union also distributed the U-Care Immediate Assistance to our companies badly affected by shorter workweek, temporary lay-offs or wage cuts. KCIEU Residential Induction Course for Newly Elected branch officials (9 July 2009) Approximately 20 newly elected branch officials attended our residential induction course conducted at Orchid Country Club by OTCLLI. Participants went through a crash course on industrial relations to prepare themselves for their leadership roles as branch officials. On the first evening, a fireside chat session was also held between the newly elected branch officials and our Executive Committee members. Fishing Competition (26 July 2009) 53 enthusiasts came forth to participate in our very first fishing competition held at West Lake fishing village. It was an enjoyable session for our folks who came with gutsy spirits. At the end of the session, the overall winner was Mr Sia Hock Siang from Sumicarrier, who walked away with the heaviest fish caught, as well as prize vouchers. CIEU Quadrennial Delegates Conference (19 August 2009)Our 2nd Quadrennial Delegates Conference was held at the NTUC Centre, Auditorium and Room 701. Guest of Honour was Brother Lim Swee Say, Secretary General of NTUC and Minister of Prime Minister’s Office.
Branch officials were updated on the work plans for the past 4 years by our various sub-committees. Each sub-committee presented information on what it has done for the past 4 years, and also, what are the initiatives and plans installed for the next term.
The event was attended by 110 delegates and 34 observers.
Gift from the Heart, 3 October 2009 For the 3rd year running, the event was once again held for the low wage workers on 3 October at Downtown East, D'marquee. It was a joint event between the FDAWU, AUPDRW and CIEU. The event was graced by Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, Brother Lui Tuck Yew. Approximately, 2500 members attended the event. Members received a goodie bag containing household items, some of which were kindly sponsored by CIEU companies such as Haw Par Healthcare, UIC, GSK and Leung Kai Fook. CIEU 5-a-side Soccer Tournament, 1 November 2009The soccer tournament was held at Fico Sports Hub on 1 November 2009. For the second time, the event has 2 categories namely the Open Category and the Below-35 Category. 18 teams from 14 branches participated in the event; 6 teams from the Below-35 category. The following players also walked away with the prizes from the soccer tournament.

CIEU Annual Dinner 2009, 20 November 2009 CIEU's annual dinner was held on 20 November 2009 at Marina Mandarin Hotel, graced by Secretary General of NTUC, Brother Lim Swee Say. Close to 600 members, branch officials and management partners attended the event. Dinner theme is 'Soccer Fanatics', so all members came dressed to the occasion in their favourite soccer team jerseys. CIEU Tripartite Golf, 26 January 2010 33 golfers came together to participate in our CIEU Golf Tournament held at Orchid Country Club. They mostly consisted of CIEU management partners, OPEC cluster unions and our invited guests from NTUC, MOM, SNEF and EDB. Held on 26 January 2010, the event was graced by Brother Lim Boon Heng, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office.
